capricorn december 21 - january 19
Traditional body zodiac correlations tell us that Capricorn rules the knees. Happy knees spring into action and for yogis, action always implies dharma, Sanskrit for right action.
Yogastrology® for Capricorn on iTunes teaches two strong asanas:
• Utkatasana chair pose
• Vrksasana tree pose
Along with strengthening the knees, this practice gently guides you in a bodily experience of 3 C’s of dharma: commitment, compassion, contentment.
Commitment.
Let’s face it, real commitment is fierce. Yoga is a gradual awakening of heart and soul - and everything in the way of awakening comes up. When a challenge rears its head, it’s time to refresh our commitments.
Grab a pen...
1. Write 3 things that you’re committed to doing every day.
2.Look inside, deep in your heart.
What makes your heart sing?
3.Is your answer to #2. on your list of daily commitments?
If not, add one more commitment to your list.
There, you’ve got a heartfelt New Year’s resolution!
Ok, back to Dharma and Compassion.
I used to think compassion was all soft and tender, and then I discovered it has another side: Ruthless Honesty.
You see, yogis want to wake up. And some days, the most compassionate thing to do is go back to bed, pull the covers over your head and hide - but admit that you’re hiding. Because when you are kind to yourself, and honest with yourself, that’s true compassion.
Contentment.
Bodies well cared for, hearts awakening, we’re well on our way to contentment.
Thanks Capricorn, for reminding us to take good care of our knees, and our dharma! Commitment, compassion, contentment.
Happy Holidays.
With love,
Diane
